1. About Tailored Bay Engineering

Tailored Bay Engineering ("we", "us", "our") is a precision manufacturing and craft studio based in South Africa, providing mechanical CAD design, laser cutting, laser engraving, 3D printing, custom woodwork, and personalised gifts.

2. Services

We provide the following services subject to individual quotes and project agreements:

• Mechanical CAD Design (2D drawings, 3D part models, assembly drawings)
• Laser Cutting and Engraving (wood, acrylic, MDF, leather, metal)
• 3D Printing and Rapid Prototyping
• Custom Gifts, Personalised Items and Woodwork
• Corporate Branding Items (name boards, awards, promotional items)

3. Quotes and Pricing

All quotes are provided on a per-project basis and are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Pricing varies based on material type, complexity, quantity, and turnaround time.

4. Payment Terms

• A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total order value is required before production commences.
• The remaining 50% is due upon completion, before files are delivered or physical items dispatched.
• For recurring or bulk orders, payment terms may be negotiated in writing.

We reserve the right to pause or cancel production on overdue accounts and to charge interest on late payments.

5. Materials and Specifications

All materials are sourced to meet the specifications agreed in the quote. Material substitutions may occur if a specified material is unavailable; we will notify you in advance and seek approval before proceeding.

For laser cutting and engraving: the client accepts that natural materials (wood, leather) may have variations in grain, colour, and texture that are inherent to the material and are not defects.

6. File Submissions and Client Responsibilities

• CAD files should be submitted in DXF, DWG, STEP, or PDF format unless otherwise agreed.
• Laser cutting files must be submitted as vector files (SVG, DXF, AI). Raster images (JPG, PNG) may be used for engraving only, at reduced precision.
• The client is responsible for ensuring submitted files are correct. We will produce according to the files provided. Re-production due to client file errors will be charged at full rate.
• Clients confirm they hold all rights to submitted designs and logos.

7. Turnaround Times

Standard turnaround times are provided as estimates only. Actual delivery depends on order complexity, material availability, and queue position. Rush orders may be accommodated at an additional fee.

• CAD drawings: typically 2–5 business days per drawing set.
• Laser cutting / engraving: typically 1–5 business days depending on quantity.
• Custom gifts and woodwork: typically 3–10 business days.
• 3D printing: typically 2–7 business days depending on complexity.

8. Quality and Tolerances

Our laser cutting tolerance is ±0.1mm under standard conditions. CAD drawings are produced to tolerances specified by the client; default tolerance is ±0.05mm unless otherwise stated. We do not guarantee tolerances on natural materials subject to expansion or contraction.

9. Intellectual Property

Upon receipt of full payment, Tailored Bay Engineering transfers ownership of all custom CAD drawings and design files produced specifically for the client's project. We retain the right to display completed work in our portfolio unless the client requests written confidentiality.

Client-supplied files remain the intellectual property of the client at all times.

10. Cancellation and Returns

• The initial deposit is non-refundable once production has commenced.
• Cancellations prior to production commencement may receive a partial refund of the deposit at our discretion.
• Due to the custom nature of our products, returns are only accepted for items that are defective or materially different from the approved specification.
• Physical items must be inspected upon delivery. Damage claims must be reported within 48 hours of receipt.

11. Liability

Tailored Bay Engineering's total liability for any claim is limited to the fees paid for the specific order in question. We are not liable for consequential losses, production downtime, or third-party costs arising from delays or errors.

12. Governing Law

For South African clients, these terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. International clients: disputes shall be resolved under international commercial arbitration with South African law as the governing framework, conducted in English.
